The long awaited Hortilux DE HPS bulb is now available. Hortilux has always been our go to choice for single ended 1000w HPS bulbs. Therefore we can’t wait to see what the DE’s can do. When looking at the Hortilux DE there are a couple things that you notice instantly. We all know that Hortilux makes some awesome bulbs. Let’s take a look at a couple of the improvements that sets the Hortilux DE above the rest.
The Hortilux DE Difference
The twin coil suspension allows the arc tube itself to expand and contract freely, reducing stress on the arc tube. As a result the arc is able to expand when it heats up. While it is able to contract as it cools down. Consequently having twin coil suspension extends the life of tube.
The lead wire is much more securely attached to the bulb. There is a little weld spot on the end of the wire which will reduce instances of fraying. Most other double ended bulbs on the market do not have this weld. No weld on the end of a braided wire can lead to fraying wires and possible arcing. The braided wire butt end is also welded. As a result this is an improvement over the standard crimp style connection. Because the crimp style connection can be off center and can sometimes come loose.
Just these improvements would be enough but Hortilux is known for making bulbs with amazing spectrum. In that arena this bulb does not fail to deliver. We’re proud to announce that you can now buy the best bulb made in America for the lowest price in America. So do your plants a favor and pick up a Hortilux DE today. (Do not use Hortilux DE bulbs in units that have remote ballasts)
