Nutrients and Supplements
Plant nutrition is the application of synthetic or organic elements for plant growth expressed as nutrients, supplements, enzymes, and biological mycorrhizal innoculum. Primary Macronutrients (nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium) NPK are the central nutritional elements used in relatively large amounts by plants and are only the first phase of a nutrient feeding schedule. Secondary Macronutrients (calcium, magnesium, and sulfur) are trace elements needed only in small amounts which can be replaced with a supplement feeding program or organically if growing in soil. Micronutrients are those elements essential for plant growth which are needed in only very small (micro) quantities based on the plant species usage, which include iron, zinc, molybdenum, manganese, boron, copper, cobalt, and chlorine.
